How to Overcome Resistance


We often feel anxiety and resistance. It’s that typical feeling of being stuck. The question isn’t whether you feel stuck, because we all do, but what to do when we feel this way? How to get rid of it?

Resisting resistance creates more anxiety because what you resist persists. Therefore, the only way to get rid of anxiety and resistance is to let it go.

How do you let it go?

By simply accepting the resistance. Resistance is a very good tool showing you that something is OFF within you. Most likely you are out of alignment with yourself because you resist a change.

Change is a must. We are constantly changing and the more we resist the change the more we create a resistance within us that leads to a feeling of anxiety. Resistance is responsible for the uneasy feeling within.

The easiest way to get rid of anxiety is to observe it and accept it. It is what it is. So what that you feel stuck? Who told you that you must feel HAPPY 24/7? So many others feel stuck and uneasy but they don’t talk about it. We all want to talk about how happy we are and nobody wants to admit the truth. No wonder people suppress their feelings. Because we are human beings it’s totally normal to feel uneasy and scared.

Emotions are guides telling us whether we are on the right track or not. If you feel anxiety you are not on the right track. What you should do is to ask yourself why do you feel this way. If you accept the feeling of resistance and you ask why do you feel this way your resistance will loose its power.

For example, maybe you are transitioning from one job to another. The more you resist the change the more anxiety you feel. Ask yourself why do you resist the change? Most likely you are scared to jump into unknown territory or you are scared to start a new chapter of your life. The more aware of these fears you become the faster they will go away.

Therefore, don’t suppress or fight your feelings. Feel the emotion in its full spectrum. Don’t hide. Nobody is watching you. Nobody is judging you. Become the observer and detach from the uneasy feeling by accepting and observing it’s presence inside of you.  Your resistance will disappear like a morning fog.
