How to Deal With Negative Feedback?
First of all, nobody is perfect and nobody ever will be perfect. Secondly, there are two types of people. The first category consists of people who are the “Dreamers/Doers”. They not only dream and talk about their visions but also they actually get up and do things. They encounter many so-called failures before they actually succeed. However, they never give up. Because they never give up they reach their goals and eventually they really live their dreams. This category of people I call Dreamers because they truly live their dreams. Dreamers go for it because they are obsessed with their dreams and visions. Because they are obsessed they never give up and they will win. Giving up is not an option for them.
The second category of people is those who are not only afraid of dreaming but are also afraid of dreaming big. They are so scared to even imagine what their life would look like if their dreams were fulfilled. Because they don’t believe in themselves, they don’t believe in their dreams. They don’t think it’s possible to live that dream life so they settle for less. Because they settle for less they are somehow unfulfilled. Because they are unhappy and unfulfilled (since they don’t live their real life purpose) they absolutely hate people who have it all (people who live their actual life purpose). They absolutely hate dreamers. Why do they hate dreamers? Because they are simply jealous of dreamers and their lives. Why are they jealous? Because dreamers subconsciously remind them of what is missing in their own lives. In other words, dreamers are a pain in their ass because dreamers drive them crazy by showing them the contrasted reality. Every time they see dreamers living amazing and fulfilled lives they feel like a failure. They see the contrast that is a reminder, which really hurts. This contrast clearly signals to them what’s missing in their own lives. So, they project this negative energy outward. They project their negativity and their own issues on you – the Dreamer.
What can you do so their negative energy doesn’t affect your mood?
- Recognize the truth. You are the one who fights for your dreams and works your ass off so why would you allow somebody to destroy your day with a negative comment?
- Understand that this negative person needs your help. They are lost in fear and fear drives their perception of the world and reality. Therefore, don’t be surprised that such a person is really negative towards you. Don’t take it personally.
- Forgive them.
- Send them your blessing.
- Carry on with your life and trust in yourself.
