How to Deal With Family Members Who Push Your Buttons? :-)

How to Spend Xmas in a Non-stress Environment?

It’s the most wonderful and loving time of the year. Yet, the loved and dearest ones challenge us like nobody else. Can you relate?

Why do we fight during the most loving time of the year? Family members are the ones who deeply care about us, yet at the same time have the ability to push our buttons in a very special way. The question is what can you do to stay calm and peaceful during this holiday season when your family member pushes your button?

  1. Observe yourself.

By observing yourself you will calm down. There is no need to react. All you have to do is to observe yourself and by the act of observing you shift your focus. Instead of reaction, you will respond. There is a difference between reaction and response. Reaction is basically a reply to somebody else’s action towardyou. Responsive behavior is your own way to act toward the other. If you choose to respond, you have the power and you keep the control in your hands. If you choose to react, you lose the power and you give the control to the other.

  1. Practice forgiveness.

Every-time a family member pushes your button, practice forgiveness. Keep in mind that this person is doing his or her best and definitely doesn’t want to hurt you. If it appears otherwise, it’s only an illusion. There is either Love or fear present. You can’t be full of Love and at the same time full of fear. You are either speaking from your heart, that is to say from your true self, or you are in fear and you speak from your ego.

  1. Choose Love over ego.

Love is a place where you belong. It’s the place where you came from and where you will return. You are Love. You are Light. Be the light that you want to see in the world. Be the Love that you want to see in your family member. Choose peace and Love instead of ego and fight. Do you want to be happy or do you want to be right?

  1. Remember Love is the Law.

Love is the ultimate law in the Universe. Love will conquer fear if you choose to. Fear is only an illusion that can be overcome by the act of Love. Love governs everything. Let Love govern this holiday season for you and your family members. Don’t forget to check 1st Chapter from my upcoming book Love is the Law here.
